Government travelers are treated the same as commercial travelers when it comes to seating. Below is information on how airlines provide seat assignments and how government travelers can best obtain their preferred seats.
20% - 40% of coach seats are reserved for:
- Travelers with frequent flyer status.
- Travelers who book a higher cost Y coach fare.
- Travelers who pay for a preferred seat.
These seats are in the front of the plane, and are exit row seats with more room.
The remaining seats are first come, first served
The remaining seats, usually the back half of the plane, are available to be reserved at the time of booking. If you book in advance you will have a good opportunity for a better seat.
The day of the flight
Unsold premium seats are released or discounted the day of the flight. Travelers without seat assignments will be assigned these remaining available seats at the gate.
